ots.CorporateNews: Thomson Grass Valley / Thomson Unveils Cost-Effective Grass Valley EDIUS ...

Paris, France/Berlin (ots) - Continuing to make its broadcast-quality technology available to a wider audience in need of uncompromised video production functionality, at the IFA 2007 conference in Berlin, one of the world's largest consumer electronics trade shows, Thomson (Euronext Paris: 18453; NYSE: TMS) will introduce its cost-effective Grass Valley[TM] EDIUS® Neo system as the newest member of its growing family of EDIUS craft edit systems. Designed for the education and OEM markets (either with third-party products, such as pro-sumer range camcorder, or with Grass Valley hardware), the new Windows-based Grass Valley EDIUS Neo is a reduced feature-set version of EDIUS, which sacrifices none of the multi-format SD/HD processing power of full EDIUS program. In fact it shares many features of the popular EDIUS version 4.5 nonlinear editing software package, and can be upgraded to the full version of EDIUS Pro as the need arises. EDIUS Neo offers native editing in various formats including AVCHD, HDV, DV, Windows Media and QuickTime, and provides a seamless realtime workflow that supports the mixing of multiple formats on the same timeline. It also features multitrack audio, mixed format HD/SD editing, compositing, chroma keying, titling and DVD output capabilities. "Customers across a wide range of applications and workflows are demanding higher quality and more functionality for their video productions and the new EDIUS Neo delivers that and a whole lot more," said Jeff Rosica, Senior Vice President of Thomson's Broadcast & Professional Solutions business unit. "Thomson has a history of bringing its core technology to a broader audience whenever possible and this is yet another example of that." Exceptional Mixed-Format Editing Leveraging high-quality video transcoding technology, EDIUS Neo performs conversion between different HD and SD resolutions, aspect ratios and frame rates - all in real time. Users can edit 1080i on a 4:3 standard definition timeline, use 525-line video together with 625-line content, or combine them all into a 720/24p project without wasting a single moment on conversion or rendering. The EDIUS Neo software also features realtime playback and DV output of all effects, keyers, transitions and titles, and can export projects to any format or medium required including DVD-Video. Unsurpassed Image Quality and Performance EDIUS Neo features the revolutionary Canopus HQ Codec. Designed with scalable technology, this innovative codec offers the highest image quality and performance available today in any HD editing platform. The Canopus HQ Codec not only provides superior luma and chroma sampling of HD video, but also features an adjustable bit rate for increased video quality when capturing and encoding on high-performance systems. No Special Hardware Required EDIUS Neo does not require any special hardware to work - it can run on a laptop as well as a workstation system, and can input/output video from any generic OHCI hardware. Pricing and Availability EDIUS Neo is priced at $249 ($129 for education) and will begin shipping in September. There will be a 30-day trial version made available for download. EDIUS Neo will be available in three versions: an English-only software product for North America; an international software product; and EDIUS Neo XL, comprised of the international version of EDIUS Neo bundled with the ACEDVio hardware (available in 525 and 625 line versions). ### Certain statements in this press release, including any discussion of management expectations for future periods, constitute "forward-looking statements" within the meaning of the "safe harbor" of the U.S. Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995.
