Openwave Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:OPWV), one of the world’s
leading software innovators enabling revenue-generating personalized
services which converge the mobile and broadband experience, today
announced growing demand for its next generation service management
solutions. Twelve major operators around the world have selected one or
more of Openwave’s next generation service
management solutions to help them monetize the mobile Internet via new
revenue models and improve the mobile Internet experience for their
customers.
"The success of the mobile Internet hinges
upon a superior user experience; access and discovery of content and
services needs to be fast, secure and easy-to-use,”
said Ketan Kittur, director of product management, Openwave. "Our
next generation service management solutions bring the capabilities of
our flagship mobile access gateway to the next level, helping leading
edge operators transition and evolve their existing infrastructure to
capitalize on the latest open access and mobile 2.0 trends. Our goal is
to help operators create greater value in their mobile Internet
offerings with a more personalized, intuitive experience, as well as
support newer business models like advertising.”
Openwave’s next generation suite of service
management offerings gives operators the ability to expand the
capabilities of their existing mobile gateway infrastructure with the
option of driving new value-added services and monetization
opportunities. The suite includes: Openwave®
Integra, a next generation proxy introduced to customers six months ago;
Openwave® OpenWeb, a
mobile content reformatting solution; Openwave®
Secure Content Management (SCM), a complete security system across
messaging, browsing and downloads; and Openwave®
Contextual Merchandising, a targeted content and advertising solution.
Customer Momentum KDDI was the first operator in the world to deploy the Openwave
Mobile Access Gateway (MAG) in 1999, and continues to collaborate with
Openwave to ensure they remain on the cutting edge with their recent
selection of Openwave Integra. "Openwave is a
true innovator when it comes to designing infrastructure and
applications that enable the mobile Internet,”
said Masafumi Yoshimitsu, general manager of platform development
division, KDDI. "As a long-standing partner,
Openwave’s open and scalable technologies
have been a key element in our business for nine years. We look forward
to the continuous enhancement of the customer experience and the
optimization of date delivery based on Integra.” Cellular South, a leader in wireless lifestyle solutions and
innovation, selected Openwave Integra to provide open, secure multimedia
and multi-protocol service management support. "At
Cellular South our aim is to build an open internet browsing experience
around personalization, rich content, and a more converged user
experience,” said Jim Richmond, director of
corporate communications for Cellular South. "Service
management solutions like Openwave Integra that can grow with our needs
and enable new applications, new content types and new protocols are
empowering us to quickly experiment with and implement new ways to do
business.” "Operators know that to maintain a
competitive edge in mobile data they need to embrace new business models
around ad-supported content and open access,”
said Gabriel Brown, senior analyst, Heavy Reading. "The
content adaptation, mobile advertising, and data mining capabilities
that form part of Openwave’s Integra platform
are examples of how network-based intelligence can help operators
enhance the usability and performance of mobile internet applications
