Old Dominion Freight Line Q1 Earnings Rise, Tops View

(RTTNews) - Thomasville, North Carolina-based Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. (ODFL) said its first-quarter profit rose 13.2 percent to $45.9 million from last year's $40.6 million.

Earnings per share grew 12.8 percent to $0.53 from $0.47. On average, 17 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected per share profit of $0.49 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenue for the quarter increased more than 15 percent to $620.3 million from $538.4 million in the same quarter of last year. Analysts expected revenue of $600.95 million for the quarter.

Old Dominion said its operating ratio reached 87.1 percent for the quarter, compared with 87.8 percent a year ago.
