Northeast Utilities Q4 Profit Up, But Non-GAAP EPS Misses View - Quick Facts
(RTTNews) - Northeast Utilities (NU) said it earned $177.4 million, or $0.56 per share in the fourth quarter of 2013, versus $174.7 million, or $0.55 per share, last year. Results include $3.2 million of after-tax integration-related costs in the recent quarter, and $2.1 million of after-tax merger-related costs in the fourth quarter of 2012, according to the company.
Excluding those costs, the firm reported $180.6 million, or $0.57 per share, in the fourth quarter of 2013. On average, 12 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings per share of $0.59 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.
Operating Revenues climbed year-over-year to $1.78 billion, from $1.68 billion, while 5 analysts estimated revenues of $1.65 billion for the quarter.
For 2014, NU projected earnings per share of between $2.60 and $2.75 and long-term earnings per share growth from 2012 through 2017 of between 6 percent and 8 percent.
