Northeast Utilities Profit Rises

(RTTNews) - Northeast Utilities (NU) Thursday reported first-quarter net earnings of $236 million or $0.74 per share compared with $228 million or $0.72 per share last year.

Excluding items, adjusted earnings for the quarter were $241.8 million or $0.76 per share compared with $229.9 million or $0.73 per share a year ago.

Revenues for the quarter were $2.3 billion compared with $2 billion in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.75 per share on revenues of $1.96 billion for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
