On September 9, 2013, BP plc (BP) announced that BP Egypt has made an important gas discovery in the Salamat Well in the East Nile Delta. According to the Company, it is the first well operated by BP in the North Damietta Offshore for which concession was granted in February 2010. The Company informed that the wireline logs, fluid samples, and pressure data has confirmed the presence of gas and condensate in 38m net of Oligocene sands in Salamat. On September 4, 2013, Total SA (Total) announced its intention to invest €160 million before 2016 to adapt its petrochemical platform in Carling in France, as well as to bring back its competitiveness.
