New Data Shows Dell Top of the Class as Number One Provider of Laptops and Desktops to Schools Worldwide

From Connected Classrooms to Virtual Labs more primary schools and universities than ever are deploying Dell’s affordable, education-specific technology solutions, making the company the top provider of laptops and desktops to schools in several geographies around the world.

Launched last year, Dell’s Connected Classroom includes technologies like the Latitude 2110 netbook for students, which enables students to learn and collaborate on a durable device that’s specialized to serve up content like digital textbooks. Offerings like the Latitude 2110 helped to drive 32 percent growth in Dell laptops and desktops in education during the past year.

For college students and staff, a Dell computer means they can work on and easily connect with standards-based university IT networks. For example, Dell’s Virtual Lab solution – announced last week – makes it easy for students to remotely connect to university engineering or computer labs anywhere, anytime.

Dell says it will continue to expand is mobile offerings for education, customizing mobile technologies like the new Dell Streak 5-inch tablet to serve the needs of teachers and students.

John Mullen, Vice President, Dell Global Education

"We listen to our education customers, then develop solutions - from classrooms to data centers - that meet their specific needs. I don’t believe there’s another technology company providing that level of service or integration for schools, and it’s why we’re number one in this space.”
