Mindspeed Technologies Receives 2010 4GWE LTE Visionary Award
Mindspeed Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: MSPD), a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions for network infrastructure applications, today announced that Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC), a global integrated media company, in conjunction with Crossfire Media, has recognized Mindspeed’s Transcede™ wireless baseband processor as a recipient of the 2010 LTE Visionary Award presented by its 4GWE Website.
"We are pleased to receive this award, which validates the role that scalable base station architectures will play as mobile network operators migrate to 4G,” said Alan Taylor, director of marketing for the communications convergence processing business unit at Mindspeed. "We have addressed this challenge with a family of processors that enable designers to leverage a common software architecture and programming model as they build tomorrow’s picocells, microcells and macrocells.”
Mindspeed recently announced that the Transcede 4000 processor had been honored as the year's Best Mobile Technology Breakthrough at the Mobile Excellence Awards (MEA). The 2010 MEA winners were announced at the annual MEA gala on December 6, 2010 at the Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, CA.
The Transcede 4000 integrates an unprecedented 26 programmable processors into a single device, including two ARM® Cortex A9® multi-core symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) reduced instruction set computer (RISC) processors, 10 CEVA® digital signal processors (DSPs) and 10 DSP accelerators, enabling equipment manufacturers to fully support the complete processing needs of single- and multi-sector base stations. Transcede-based designs have substantial processing headroom for value-added software features that developers can also readily port to other Transcede-based platforms, from picocells and enterprise femtocells to the largest macrocell implementations.
"Mindspeed’s achievement in advancing 4G through LTE development is worthy of being selected as recipient of the 4GWE LTE Visionary Award,” said Carl Ford, co-founder and community developer, Crossfire Media. "Mindspeed Technologies is an innovator and one to watch for the next evolution of mobile industry solutions.”
"It is an honor to bestow Mindspeed with this award. The company’s contribution toward the future of mobile broadband is commendable,” said Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC. "I look forward to more innovation from Mindspeed in the future.”
