Mercury Companies Completes Independent Upgrade to Lawson System Foundation 9.0

Delivering on its commitment to make enterprise software easier to buy and own, Lawson Software (Nasdaq:LWSN) today announced that Mercury Companies has performed the upgrade to Lawson System Foundation 9.0 through the Lawson System Foundation 9.0 Customer Certification Program for a Windows environment. This certification validates that Mercury Companies has the training, skills and consulting support necessary to move from Lawson Environment 8.0.3 to Lawson System Foundation 9.0 using its own technical resources. Mercury Companies is an independent title and holding company with more than 60 years of experience in the settlement services industry. With 4,500 employees in more than 500 offices located throughout the United States, Mercury Companies provides title, escrow, real estate and mortgage services along with mortgage document preparation. After assessing the scope of its upgrade project this spring, Mercury Companies decided it was more cost-effective to complete the Lawson System Foundation 9.0 Customer Certification Program and execute the project with its own staff and resources. Mercury Companies’ information technology staff approached this project by having two employees go through the Lawson certification process, providing the company with more than one resource knowledgeable and available to complete the project. "We have a more complex technology environment than a typical Windows client setting, which can make upgrades more expensive,” said Bevan Bryan, HRIS manager, Mercury Companies. "Because we have more than a decade of Lawson technical knowledge among our staff, we felt we were well-positioned to handle this upgrade on our own under the Lawson certification program.” Mercury Companies’ information technology infrastructure includes three separate computing environments: one for testing, another for development and a third production environment that is used by staff on a day-to-day basis. Although Mercury Companies decided to do this migration on its own, Lawson Professional Services was available to the company throughout the entire project, providing necessary guidance and insight during the critical points of the migration. "Executing a complete software migration in-house is a viable option for some organizations to consider,” said Tracy Prochaska, marketing director, Services and Support, Lawson Software. "We provide a variety of options for customers to implement Lawson technologies and applications. The Lawson System Foundation 9.0 Customer Certification Program is one way we empower our customers to help them make deployment decisions that are right for their company’s needs.” Lawson will hold a Lawson Learning webinar entitled, "Migration Certification for Tech Savvy Customers” to provide further details regarding the Lawson System Foundation 9.0 Customer Certification Program and Mercury Companies’ experience. Interested individuals and companies may access the webinar Nov. 20, 2007 at 11 a.m. CST, which is accessible at www.lawson.com/certification.
