McLane Announces Shift in Leadership of Grocery, Foodservice Divisions
McElroy joined McLane in 1981 as Vice President of Distributionand has had a rewarding career with the company. He is highlyrespected as one of the most knowledgeable logistic executives in theindustry.
Grady Rosier, President and Chief Executive Officer of McLaneCompany, Inc., said, "I am proud to have worked with him over theyears and can say with heartfelt sincerity, 'Thank you for a job welldone!' He has clearly embodied the company's beliefs and values in hisdaily life at McLane. His strong presence and leadership will bemissed."
Without question, McElroy has been one of the primary architectsin leading McLane from a small central Texas wholesaler to the $24billion business it is today. His vision, work ethic, strongleadership and wisdom have propelled the growth and development of thegrocery distribution business at McLane.
McElroy has cultivated countless business relationships andfriendships with McLane teammates, customers, vendors and otherassociates and his legacy will remain through the many individuals hehas assisted, mentored and influenced during their careers at McLane.
With the announcement of McElroy's retirement, McLane alsoannounced that Mike Youngblood, current President of McLaneFoodservice Distribution, has accepted the position of President,McLane Grocery Distribution.
Youngblood's career with McLane began at the company's WesternDivision in Longmont, Colorado in 1982 as Vice President ofDistribution. Since then he has held leadership positions at McLaneSoutheast in Dothan, Alabama, McLane Southern in Brookhaven,Mississippi, and McLane Mid Atlantic in Falmouth, Virginia. He servedas a Director in the Logistics Department at the McLane Company HomeOffice, and held the position of Regional Vice President, AtlanticRegion, for McLane Grocery Distribution from 1997 to 2000.
Most recently, Youngblood has served as the President of McLaneFoodservice Distribution since its acquisition in December 2000.During the past five years, McLane Foodservice has flourished byachieving its financial objectives, providing great customer service,and developing a strong team-oriented environment. Mike has providedgreat leadership in assimilating the McLane Company culture into theFoodservice business unit. He has been especially successful inidentifying, developing, and motivating a strong leadership team thatis positioned to continue its success into the future.
Rosier said of Youngblood, "I am confident that Mike will bringthe same strong work ethic, vision and leadership to the GroceryDistribution business unit."
Youngblood will continue to provide leadership to McLaneFoodservice while transitioning into his new role. McLane expects toannounce a new President for the Foodservice Distribution business inthe near future.
