Max Sound Files Infringement Lawsuit Against Google Over Video Streaming Patent

(RTTNews) - Max Sound Corp. (MAXD) in early December filed a lawsuit with the District Court of Mannheim, Germany, against Google Inc., Mountain View, USA, Google Commerce Ltd., Dublin, Ireland, Google Germany GmbH, Hamburg, Germany, and the Google subsidiary YouTube LLC, San Bruno, USA, over charges of infringement of a video streaming patent, which is valid for the world's most important markets.

Max Sound is inventor of the MAX--D HD Audio Standard, and is holder of a worldwide license of the patent EU 2 026 277, which allows for economically efficient transport of digital content due to greatly optimized data capacity.

The patent was founded by VSL Communications, a subsidiary of Vedanti Systems Ltd. Max Sound claims that all products on the market that use the format H.264 for video compression infringe the asserted patent.

This allegation comprises, particularly, current versions of the Google operating system Android, which is installed on many mobile phones and tablet devices. The complaint addresses the current Google Products: Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 Chromebook and Chromecast.

Max Sound additionally alleges infringement of the patent in the video service from YouTube, in which a newer format VP8 is used in addition to H.264, which is part of the action.

In the "action," Max Sound seeks information about profits and damages for each video streamed to Germany in one of the relevant formats.

The court ruling is expected in less than 12 months.
