Material Handling Industry Association and Tom Rogers of WPSS Are Moving the Industry Forward

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Material Handling Industry association relies upon numerous professionals like Tom Rogers at Western Pacific Storage Solutions who has just made a new commitment to serve.

The size of the global materials handling and logistics industry stands at approximately $156 billion – and it's a mature industry poised for continued growth, so says IBIS World. So how does the industry maintain high ethical principles, promote safety, set benchmarks for design and performance, and stay abreast of market trends? By leveraging the expertise of top industry experts like Western Pacific CEO Tom Rogers, who has chosen to invest in the future of the industry by recently volunteering with the material handling and logistics association, MHI (mhi.org).

MHI is the nation's largest material handling, logistics and supply chain association. Since 1945, the MHI has been a pioneering organization, advancing the industry through the efforts of its 800 member companies to improve safety, standardize industry-wide specifications, and provide networking opportunities.

MHI publishes numerous industry-related specification and case studies, disseminates safety guidelines for equipment and labeling, and produces top-of-the-line inspection and maintenance guides. MHI is the sponsor of the industry-leading ProMat and MODEX expos. MHI also designs significant outreach and educational initiatives.

Tom Rogers just became involved with one of MHI's 19 product-specific industry groups: Storage Manufacturers Association (SMA) along with the Specification Advisors Committee (SAC). MHI and SMA managing executive Anupam Bose states,

"These affiliate groups along with our membership organizations help to advance the industry as a whole. SMA and RMI members, for example, adhere to appropriate ANSI (American National Standards Institute) standards, maintain seats on various code and fire safety organizations, and are committed to the philosophy of continuous improvement."

"We look to our member-leaders to help us shape policy and grow our industry. We thank Tom Rogers for example, for signing up to serve as a primary delegate to the MHI and SMA. He has already given many hours this year to help strengthen our industry."

For this Western Pacific Storage Solutions executive, service to others is simply a part of the DNA. With over 30 years' experience, Tom Rogers has worked for many years with material handling distributors and served on MHEDA committees for dealer manufacturing relationships.

Tom now challenges other company experts to join the ever-growing roster of MHI members who use their unique technical skills to move the industry forward.

Tom elaborates, "If you look at the range of companies and organizations that are MHI members, and who participate in the affiliate groups, it's obvious that there exists a real depth of experience; there's a lot of intellectual capital that can be tapped into. We encourage material handling companies who are not currently members to join us in our efforts. And we encourage existing members to consider donating their time; it's a rewarding experience that pays dividends again and again."
