ManTech Receives the Department of Defense Cogswell Award for Maintaining Excellent Security at a Cleared Facility

ManTech International Corporation (Nasdaq:MANT) announced that it has been awarded the James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award for 2007 from the Defense Security Service (DSS). The Cogswell award is the most "prestigious” honor that DSS awards to a cleared facility and it is presented annually to companies that focus on industrial security excellence and maintain security programs that go beyond National Industrial Security Program requirements. ManTech was one of 30 companies to receive an award and was selected in a "rigorous” process that reviewed approximately 12,000 cleared contractor facilities supported by DSS. Facilities considered for the award must have a minimum of two consecutive superior industrial security review ratings and show a "sustained degree of excellence and innovation in their overall security program management, implementation and oversight,” according to DSS. The ManTech facility in Panama City, FL, which supports advanced acoustics efforts for the U.S. Navy, received the Cogswell award. Cheryl Myers, Facility Security Officer, ManTech Systems Engineering Corporation, oversees the security operations at the Panama City location. "My congratulations to Cheryl and the team in Panama City,” said Joyce Weymouth, Corporate Vice President of Security, ManTech International Corporation. "We support the tremendous dedication and commitment it took to maintain a security program to meet the extensive requirements for this award. Security is critical to our country and our customers and ManTech understands the important role security plays in the defense of our nation.” The Cogswell award, established in 1966, is named in honor of the late Air Force Col. James S. Cogswell, who was the first chief of the unified office of industrial security within the Department of Defense. "Col. Cogswell was responsible for developing the basic principles of the Industrial Security Program, which include an emphasis on the partnership between industry and government to protect classified information, which ultimately helps to ensure the protection of the U.S. fighter,” according to DSS. The Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence provides authority, direction and control over DSS, which provides the military services, defense agencies, 23 federal agencies and approximately 12,000 cleared contractor facilities with security support services.
