Manchester United Turns To Profit In Q1; Backs FY15 Goals - Quick Facts
(RTTNews) - Manchester United (MANU) posted first-quarter pre-tax profit of 8.11 million pounds, as against a loss of 0.47 million pounds, last year. Profit for the period amounted to 8.94 million pounds, versus a 0.29 million pounds loss, a year earlier.
On a per share basis, the firm made a quarterly profit of 5.45 pence, compared with the prior year's loss of 0.18 pence. Adjusted earnings per share came in at 2.59 pence for the recent quarter.
Revenue for the 2015 fiscal first quarter was 88.67 million pounds, down compared with the prior-year figure of 98.52 million pounds.
For fiscal 2015, Manchester United still expects revenue in the range of 385 million pounds - 395 million pounds and adjusted EBITDA of 90 million pounds - 95 million pounds.
Ed Woodward, Executive Vice Chairman, commented, "While we recognize that the 2014/15 fiscal year financial results will reflect our absence from the Champions League, we signed the largest kit sponsorship deal in the history of sport in the first quarter and, with that concluded, we are excited to focus our efforts on the meaningful growth opportunities in sponsorship, digital media and retail and merchandising."
