Local Construction Company Thanks Employees with 'Hero Bonus'

LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 14, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- As the Commonwealth of Kentucky rounds out its ninth week of social distancing, essential workers continue to leave their homes and labor for our community. At Louisville Paving and Construction (LPC), employees are doing their part to support our road infrastructure and keep essential travel safe. LPC is implementing a Hero Bonus in an effort to thank these frontline heroes, a pay bonus for hourly employees each week, running April 24th through May 31st.

Each team recognized with a Hero Bonus — Louisville Paving and Construction, Pace Contracting, Material Transfer, Bluegrass Testing and Wescott Construction — represents hundreds of men and women who leave their homes and families every day to support our crucial road infrastructure. Their sacrifice allows transportation to continue smoothly, such as emergency responders and food supply shipping. Doing their part for Kentucky, the leaders at LPC consider it an honor to recognize and support these vital team members.

"The Hero Bonus idea is simply to show our gratitude to team members who are reporting for duty every day during the pandemic and making things happen. I could not be more proud of our men and women. They are truly extraordinary," says Joe Dougherty, President of Louisville Paving and Construction.

The Hero Bonus is part of a series of initiatives from LPC to honor their team members and keep them safe, while diligently performing essential work. In their ongoing commitment to employee safety, new "Stay Safe Louisville" signs have been posted at work sites in addition to regular PSA's which support team efforts to maintain safe social distancing as much as possible in their work environments. During this trying time, essential employees deserve and appreciate advocacy from their leaders all the more.

Michael Shelley, an LPC employee with Material Transfer says that he "[looks] at [his] check stub every week and [sees] the Hero Bonus and [thinks]… It's very nice to be appreciated but not expected. I'm blessed to be a part of all this. Love who I work for and with." Many others in the LPC family share the same sentiment. "I think the Hero Bonus shows just how much the company cares about their employees during this time," adds Material Transfer team member, Kenneth Colbert. "We are a FAMILY!"

Louisville Paving and Construction is grateful for the strength of our Commonwealth. While the members of our great state persevere in doing their part to flatten the curve, whether by staying healthy at home or working on the frontline, our essential construction workforce reminds us that we will get through this together.
