LIN TV Selects Critical Media's Syndicaster for Real-Time Broadcast-to-Online Video Distribution

LIN TV Corp. (NYSE: TVL), a local television and digital media company, and Critical Media Inc., (www.critical-media.com) a leader in real-time broadcast media capture, search, syndication and information services, today announced that LIN TV will utilize Syndicaster, a real-time broadcast-to-online video platform, across all of its 29 television stations and local web sites. The integration of Syndicaster with the Fox Interactive Media (FIM) Digital Publishing Groups content management system, enables LIN TV to create news clips within seconds of airing on television and distribute those clips to LIN TVs web sites.

LIN TVs new media strategy is focused on partnering with innovative companies, such as Critical Media, to deploy technology that will engage audiences around LIN TVs market-leading brands and generate new revenue opportunities. Using Syndicaster for clip creation ensures that LIN TVs content has an extended shelf-life beyond the scheduled television broadcast. Syndicaster also provides new opportunities for LIN TV to distribute extensive video footage that has not appeared on-air to LIN TVs web sites, effectively expanding its local online content and generating new opportunities for targeted advertising. LIN TV is now equipped to selectively edit its broadcast content for its online audience, as well as distribute news clips to its web sites within moments of television broadcast.

"We are continuously looking for ways to enhance the process of integrating our on-air and online content, said Robb Richter, senior vice president new media, LIN TV. "Syndicasters flexibility, scalability, efficiency and ease-of-use were key attributes that we considered. Syndicaster allows us to take control of our content in an environment where timely content distribution is critical, with little investment in hardware or expensive editing stations. Our editors have essentially been un-tethered, and can now create, publish and distribute clips from in the building or in the field through a single web interface, streamlining the process across all of our markets.

"The broadcast landscape has evolved to where viewers are consuming more content online, making it essential for broadcasters to leverage efficient technology that gets their content online faster and drives new incremental revenue streams via syndication, said Sean Morgan, chief executive officer, Critical Media. "LIN TV has clearly been proactive in realizing the potential for increased viewership and new revenue opportunities created by the evolving broadcast landscape. We are pleased LIN TV selected Syndicaster to offer their viewers the fastest and most robust access to broadcast content that is possible online.

Using Syndicaster, LIN TV has access to its on-air content in real-time, enabling the Company to begin creating video clips for online distribution via a simple, password-protected Web interface. All of LIN TVs video content, including footage that never airs, is centralized on a single platform using one standard taxonomy. Additionally, the clips now contain a meta field including the full text file of every clip, making its stations video discoverable instead of simply browsable, a feature that is in lockstep with LIN TVs strategy to make its video content available "wherever people are searching.
