L Brands Profit Tops Estimates, Sales Misses; Lifts FY Guidance

(RTTNews) - Women's apparel retailer L Brands Inc (LB) on Wednesday reported first-quarter net earnings of $250.5 million or $0.84 per share compared with $157 million or $0.53 per share last year.

Excluding items, adjusted earnings for the quarter were $0.61 per share.

Revenues for the quarter were up 5% at $2.51 billion compared with $2.39 billion in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.60 per share on revenues of $2.54 billion for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Comparable store sales for the quarter increased 5 percent.

For the second quarter, the company expects earnings of $0.60 and $0.65 per share, while analysts expect $0.69 per share.

For the full year 2015, the company now expects earnings of $3.50 to $3.70 per share, up from prior guidance of $3.45 to $3.65 per share. Analysts expect earnings of $3.75 per share.
