Kopin to Showcase Breakthrough Shrinking Display Technology at SID 2008

Kopin® Corporation (NASDAQ: KOPN) will introduce its newest displays and a sampling of its customers’ eyewear powered by Digital iVision technology at the SID (Society for Information Display) 2008 Exhibition. The event takes place May 20 – 22 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Kopin will feature Company’s 0.44”-diagonal CyberDisplay® SVGA LVS display – the world’s smallest 800 x 600-resolution liquid crystal display (LCD). Kopin’s Digital iVision technology provides large cinema-like pictures in a compact package by enlarging high-resolution images displayed in a tiny microdisplay with optical elements. "Our recent technical breakthrough – shrinking the pixel size to less than 1/1000 of today’s typical LCD TV – has enabled Kopin to produce the smallest SVGA display in the LCD industry,” said Dr. John C. C. Fan, Kopin's President and Chief Executive Officer. "Conventional LCD TVs and laptop screens can now be reduced to the size of a fingernail, opening myriad potential applications to display high-resolution images in mobile portable devices.” Products being displayed at Kopin's booth (#807) include: Kopin’s CyberDisplay SVGA LVS: Dual CyberDisplay SVGA LVS microdisplays together with lenses produce stunning high-resolution color images. With a 32° field of view, the displays project the equivalent of a 48” TV screen viewed at a distance of seven feet. The displays use advanced circuit architecture and 8” Si CMOS processing for low power consumption. The improved liquid cell assembly process and innovative LED backlight deliver superb color images. The displays are driven by Kopin’s A910 driver ASIC. Myvu Corporation’s Crystal and Shades: Built with SolidOptex®, the Myvu patented optical system, Crystal and Shades offer the world’s thinnest, lightest and most durable video eyewear. A winner of the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show Innovations Awards, Crystal incorporates two of Kopin’s CyberDisplay VGA microdisplays and provides an approximately 22° field-of-view, providing the truest DVD-quality experience possible. Myvu Shades, incorporating two of Kopin’s CyberDisplay 230K LV microdisplays, features an enhanced glance-down design that allows viewers to maintain the most situational awareness possible without sacrificing image or screen quality. This unique design provides a broad and unobstructed field-of-view that enables new applications and uses. Crystal and Shades are compatible with portable media players. Vuzix Corporation’s iWEAR™ VR920 and AV920: A winner of the 2008 Consumer Electronic Show Innovations Awards, the iWEAR VR920 is an interactive 3D video eyewear that plugs into a laptop or standard PC through a simple USB connection. With an integrated head-tracker having 360 degrees of freedom, the iWear VR920 allows the user to step "inside” the 3D game. The iWear AV920 is designed to be connected to all NTSC and PAL audio/video devices including portable DVD players, media players and gaming systems. Both iWear VR920 and AV920 utilize iWEAR 3DTM technology that makes 3D videos automatically functional to the viewer. They use two Kopin CyberDisplay VGA (640 x 480) microdisplays to create an experience that is equivalent to a 62-inch 3D big-screen image viewed from a distance of nine feet. Welton Electronics Ltd.'s ARGO™ PC/3-D: Incorporating Kopin’s BDM®-922K, the Argo PC/3-D provides a Private Viewer with VGA resolution. It connects to a PC, DVD player, media player, 3G phone, game console, Xbox360, PS3, or Nintendo Wii. Lightweight, durable and highly portable, the Argo PC/3-D provides a 3D-movie or gaming experience equivalent to a 48” screen viewed from a distance of seven feet. Fujifilm Corporation’s FinePix S8000fd camera: Incorporating Kopin’s CyberEVF® 230K, the FinePix S8000fd digital camera with an 8-megapixel image sensor has an 18x optical zoom lens, Dual Image Stabilization technology for blur-free images, Face Detection technology that automatically adjusts focus and exposure to ensure beautiful portrait pictures, and automatic red eye removal. Olympus Imaging Corporation’s SP-570 UZ camera: Incorporating Kopin’s CyberEVF 230K, the SP-570 UZ camera with a 10-megapixel sensor has the industry-leading 20x optical zoom with a large focal range (26 mm – 520 mm) and 13.5 frames-per-second (fps) sequential shooting capability. Wild Planet’s Spy Video ATV-360™: Incorporating Kopin’s CyberDisplay 300S monochrome QVGA display, the Spy Video ATV-360 is the first remote-controlled Spy Gear video to offer audio transmission, full-circle spin control, and tank tracks. This upgraded ATV lets secret agents inspect enemy territory from the safety of their own spy headquarters. They can scope out a room and hear if anyone is coming from up to 75 feet away. The new track-based movement system traverses treacherous landscapes such as laundry-strewn bedroom floors and foyers filled with books and backpacks. The vehicle climbs over obstacles and wirelessly transmits real-time video and audio back to the driver.
