Knight Transportation Q1 Profit Meets View, Revenue Tops Estimates

(RTTNews) - Knight Transportation Inc. (KNX) Wednesday said first-quarter net income attributable to the company increased to $19.06 million from $15.18 million in the previous year. Earnings per share advanced to $0.23 from $0.19.

On average, 13 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $0.23 per share. Analysts estimates typically exclude special items.

Total revenue improved to $249.16 million from $235.40 million in the prior year. Analysts expected revenues of $247.30 million.

Kevin Knight, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said, ''We are pleased with our success in growing our revenue and improving our operating margin. During the quarter we experienced greater demand for our capacity as well as a stronger used equipment market.''
