Infonet Announces Worldwide Availability of FirstWatch Advanced Service Delivers Unified Monitoring, Reporting and Management Capabilities to Client-Owned IT Infrastructure
Infonet Services Corporation (NYSE:IN), a leading provider of global communications services for multinationals, today announced the worldwide availability of FirstWatch remote monitoring, reporting and management capabilities.
With FirstWatch, Infonet is able to extend its value-added management services beyond the customer premise routers provided under its Global Connect service and into client-owned IT infrastructure elements such as LAN switches, servers, security devices and IP telephony systems.
"Communications service providers are increasingly looking to play a larger role in their customers' networking infrastructures. An important step in that direction is ensuring the delivery and performance of enterprise applications and the infrastructure they run on," said Ron Kaplan, Research Manager, Business Network Services for IDC.
FirstWatch is offered for the following network elements, whether they are associated with sites on Infonet's The World Network, a private leased line network, or the network of another communications service provider:
The flexible and modular design of FirstWatch recognizes the varying levels of internal investment in monitoring and reporting tools, staff and processes that most multinationals already have in place.
The result is a unified service that lets multinationals selectively "out-task" a wide range of management options on a device-by-device basis -- from monitoring and alerting to performance management, configuration management, change control and fault resolution and management.
Using Infonet's easy-to-use client portal, my.infonet.com, multinationals can access FirstWatch reports and monitor their IT infrastructure 24/7.
"Clients using this service have achieved an average of 41% reduction in systems failures and a sharp reduction in IT help desk trouble tickets, usually within the first 60 days," commented Andrew McBride, senior product manager, Infonet. "FirstWatch offers a unified management solution regardless of the diversity of a multinational's IT infrastructure -- a key benefit for organizations with multiple sites with varying IT requirements."
