Hologic Q3 Adj. Profit Tops View; Lifts FY14 Outlook - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Hologic Inc. (HOLX) reported third-quarter net income of $11.3 billion or $0.04 per share, compared to net loss of $11.0 million or $0.04 per share in the comparable quarter last year.

Excluding items, adjusted earnings for the quarter were $102.4 million or $0.37 per share, compared with $103.2 million or $0.38 per share a year ago. On average, 22 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.34 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenue for the quarter rose to $632.6 million, compared with $626.1 million in the prior year, while twenty analysts had a consensus revenue estimate of $621.89 million for the quarter.

For the fourth quarter, Hologic expects adjusted earnings of $0.36 to $0.37 per share and revenue of $630 million to $640 million. Analysts expect earnings of $0.35 per share on revenue of $625.32 million.

For the full year 2014, Hologic now estimates adjusted earnings of $1.44 to 1.45 per share, up from its prior guidance of $1.37 to $1.40 per share. Analysts now expect earnings of $1.40 per share.

The company raised its revenue to a range of $2.50 billion to $2.51 billion from its prior range of $2.46 billion to $2.49 billion. Analysts expect revenue of $2.48 billion.
