Hilb Rogal & Hobbs Volunteers to Travel to Gulf Coast for 2008 Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project

Hilb Rogal & Hobbs Company (NYSE:HRH), one of the world’s largest insurance and risk management intermediaries, announced that between May 11-16, volunteers from HRH offices across the country will travel to the Gulf Coast to participate in Habitat for Humanity’s Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project. This year marks the 25th annual work project, which is being hosted by Habitat for Humanity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Working alongside former U.S. President and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn, HRH’s 15 volunteers will join thousands of volunteers to build and rehabilitate 60 homes and frame up to 48 more in the host cities of Biloxi, Gulfport and Pascagoula, Mississippi. In total, more than 250 houses will be built or repaired by the end of this year as part of the overall project. All of the volunteers from HRH were selected by either executive management or their regional director in recognition of their past charitable efforts, both with the company and in non-work activities. Each of HRH’s seven regions will be represented, as well as several employees from the company’s Gulf Coast area branch offices, corporate office, and excess & surplus business. HRH’s Chairman and CEO, Martin L. (Mell) Vaughan, III, commented, "HRH has supported Habitat for Humanity since 2003, sponsoring and building over 30 homes in multiple cities, so we were excited to hear of this opportunity to send our volunteers to the week-long Carter Project. This may be one of the most meaningful volunteer experiences our employees will ever take part in, and it gives our organization a chance to give back to one of our many communities.” About HRH Hilb Rogal & Hobbs Company (HRH) is the eighth largest insurance and risk management intermediary in the United States, with over 140 offices throughout the United States and the world. That year, the Carters led a small team of Habitat volunteers to New York City to help renovate a six-story apartment building with 19 families in need of decent, affordable shelter. A quarter of a century later, that modest effort has grown into an internationally recognized annual event that has taken place in communities around the world. About Habitat for Humanity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Habitat for Humanity of the MS Gulf Coast (HFHMGC) serves Harrison, Jackson and Stone counties. Since Katrina, HFHMGC has completed and started construction on 170 homes.
