Healthways Names Donato Tramuto Chairman - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Healthways Inc. (HWAY) announced the election of Donato Tramuto, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Physicians Interactive as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Company.

Tramuto has been a member of the Healthways' Board since 2013 and has served on the Compensation Committee since his election to the Board.

Tramuto is one of the former founders of Physicians Interactive and has served as its Chief Executive Officer since 2007, becoming Chairman last year following the successful sale of the company. Prior to the acquisition of Physicians Interactive, he served as President of that division, a business unit of Allscripts. From 2004 to 2006, Tramuto was Chief Executive Officer of i3, a global pharmaceutical services company that was part of Ingenix (a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group Incorporated).

Before joining to Ingenix, Tramuto was one of the founders of Protocare, Inc., where he served as Chief Executive Officer and President of the Protocare Sciences Division and Corporate Officer of Protocare from 1998 to 2003. Prior to co-founding Protocare, Tramuto served as Executive Vice President/General Manager of the Home Health Care Business Unit and Corporate Vice President of Marketing/Healthcare at Caremark.

Last week, Healthways announced that it had reached a nomination and standstill agreement to settle the proxy contest initiated by North Tide Capital, LLC. As part of the agreement, current Board Chair John Ballantine will step down at the Company's Annual Meeting of Stockholders scheduled for June 24, 2014.
