Harmony Health Plan Helps Kidz Korna Make the Holidays Special for Thousands of Children in Need in Chicago

CHICAGO and TAMPA, Fla., Dec. 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Harmony Health Plan, Inc., a subsidiary of WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (NYSE: WCG), gave $10,000 to Kidz Korna to help make the holidays special for thousands of children living in Chicago's low-income communities, such as Englewood, Bronzeville, Roseland and the Westside.

The contribution helped the nonprofit with its 11^th annual Toy Giveaway and Youth Expo, providing much needed assistance for area families. This year's event was extended to three days. In addition to toy giveaway events at the House of Hope on Dec. 17 and in Englewood, Bronzeville and the Westside on Dec. 18, Kidz Korna also presented a violence awareness play at the Harold Washington Cultural Center on Dec. 16 with the Chicago Police Department.

The Toy Giveaway and Youth Expo at the House of Hope included a variety of events, such as the Christmas Choir Musical Extravaganza, youth entertainment, celebrity guests, health screenings and community resource information from the Chicago Police Department Alternative Policing Strategy Program (CAPS) and others.

As of Sept. 30, 2016, WellCare and Harmony Health Plan serve approximately 210,000 members in Illinois, including 167,000 Medicaid members, 16,000 Medicare Advantage plan members and 27,000 Medicare Prescription Drug Plan members.
