GraphOn Releases Version 2.2.6 of GO-Global for UNIX
GraphOn Corp. (OTCBB:GOJO), a leading worldwide developer of
server-based application publishing and Web-enabling software solutions,
today announced the immediate availability of GO-Global for UNIX version
2.2.6. GO-Global is a thin-client, server-based computing solution that
extends the reach of existing UNIX and Linux software applications to
any remote device, platform or operating system without the need for
cumbersome, client-side X servers.
"With GO-Global for UNIX, enterprises can
instantly and inexpensively Web-enable complex, feature-rich UNIX and
Linux applications for cross-platform access from Windows-based clients
and other thin clients over LANs, WANs, dial-up connections, or the
Internet,” said John Dilworth, Vice President
of Sales and Marketing. "With the powerful new
capabilities incorporated into version 2.2.6, GO-Global for UNIX is now
more flexible, efficient, and effective than ever.”
The enhancements incorporated into GO-Global for UNIX 2.2.6 include:
Pluggable Authentication Modules (PAM). For improved user
authentication and security, GO-Global now uses PAM for default
authentication.
New and Improved File Transfer. GO-Global’s
file transfer utility has been completely rewritten for improved
throughput and efficiency. In addition, the host user interface has
been eliminated, making the utility better suited to work with scripts
for automated multiple file transfers, file translations, etc.
New and Improved Print Utility. The GO-Global printing utility
has been rewritten to improve overall performance.
New Database Format. GO-Global now incorporates a new and
improved XML-formatted database for published items, suspended
sessions, etc. The new implementation allows the database to be shared
among multiple machines.
New Master Daemon. GO-Global’s master
daemon has been completely rewritten to improve performance and
stability. The daemon is used to manage host connections.
New Xgo Process. For improved efficiency, GO-Global’s
Xgo process (the server-resident X server) has been enhanced to use
the XFree86 base code.
Server-Rendered 3-D Graphics. The Xgo process now supports the
open source, cross-platform GLX X extension which allows for the
display of complex 3-D graphics from within a GO-Global session.
Improved Clipboard Utility. The GO-Global clipboard utility has
been changed significantly in order to improve performance and
robustness.
Enhanced X11 Client. The user interface for the X11 client has
been enhanced to accommodate many of the special preferences
previously available only in the Windows client. In addition, the X11
client now includes .kx files for foreign language keyboard support.
Enhanced Windows Client. The Windows client has been enhanced
for improved performance.
Additional Server Platform Support. GO-Global for UNIX 2.2.6
now supports Sun Solaris x86_64; SUSE Linux 9 and 10 on x86, x86_64,
and ia64; and HP-UX on ia64. This adds to the product’s
existing support of IBM AIX, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Fedora Core
Linux, Debian, as well as other UNIX and Linux servers.
Current GO-Global for UNIX customers with maintenance contracts can
download the new version for free from GraphOn’s
FTP site. Customers without a maintenance contract should call GraphOn
at 1.800.GRAPHON and select the Sales option when promoted.
