Grace Board Member Dr. Marye Anne Fox Wins Prestigious National Medal of Science

President Obama announced on October 15th that Dr. Marye Anne Fox, a member of the W. R. Grace & Co. (NYSE: GRA) Board of Directors since 1996, is one of ten eminent researchers to receive this year’s National Medal of Science. The Award is presented annually to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to science and engineering during their lifetimes.

"We couldn’t be more proud of Dr. Fox,” said Fred Festa, Grace’s Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. "Since joining the Grace Board, she has helped us focus on constantly improving our technical capabilities and becoming an innovation leader in the global specialty chemicals industry. She truly deserves this recognition from the President for the contributions she has made to advancing science in her lifetime.”

The National Medal of Science was created by statute in 1959 and is administered for the White House by the National Science Foundation. Nominees are selected by a committee of Presidential appointees based on their extraordinary knowledge in, and contributions to, the biological, behavioral/social and physical sciences, as well as chemistry, engineering, computing and mathematics.

Dr. Fox, who is currently Chancellor of the University of California at San Diego, will receive her medal at a White House ceremony later this year.
