Gemstar-TV Guide Names John High Senior Vice President, Affiliate Sales and Marketing
Gemstar-TV Guide International, Inc. (NASDAQ: GMST), a leading media, entertainment and technology company, announced today that it has appointed John High to the position of senior vice president, Affiliate Sales and Marketing. In this position, Mr. High will be responsible for TV Guide’s distribution efforts for the Company’s industry leading interactive program guide (IPG) and for its programming services, including TV Guide Channel, TVG Network, and TV Guide SPOT. Based in Radnor, PA, he reports to Tonia O’Connor, executive vice president, Distribution. An experienced sales and long-time HBO executive, Mr. High most recently served as executive vice president of Visiware, a leading provider for interactive TV games, where he was responsible for the roll-out of its triple play strategy. "As we continue to deliver entertainment information across all platforms and expand TV Guide’s footprint, it is essential that we have a unified distribution strategy,” said Ms. O’Connor. "John’s background in both programming and technical sales, and his experience in multi-platform environments, will help to strengthen our already accomplished sales and marketing team.” Prior to Visiware, Mr. High was the senior vice president and general manager at HBO, where he was responsible for rolling-out On-Demand and High-Definition to MSO partners. He graduated with a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
