From Local Farms to Food Trucks, Centerplate Unveils New Menus for 150th Anniversary Season at Saratoga Race Course

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y., July 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) and Centerplate will partner once again to create extraordinary experiences for race-goers in upstate New York when historic Saratoga Race Course commences its 150th anniversary season on Friday, July 19.

Focusing on the exploding popularity of local and regional food vendors, Centerplate is proud to debut a selection of food and beverages at Saratoga Race Course for the 2013 meet. Some of the food vendors included this year are:

  • Wandering Dago- featuring one of the country's top barbecue fusion trucks
  • Mac & Cheese Truck
  • Grasso's Italian Ice- a local Favorite in business for over 40 years
  • Hattie's Famous Chicken
  • Duo Japanese Restaurant
  • Shirley's Montreal Poutine
  • Pies On Wheels Gourmet Pizza
  • Moe's Southwestern
  • Old Fashioned Soda Floats

Centerplate's menu also features local flavors, premier wines, and signature cocktails. Items available in the Club House and Terrace include:

  • The Triple Crown Lobster Roll: fresh mixture of Maine Lobster, dill and celery in a seasonal aioli served on brioche
  • Celebration Melon & Berry Plate: featuring wedges of seasonal melon and farm fresh berries with local honey and yogurt sauce
  • Horseradish Reuben: seasoned corned beef, Olde Saratoga lager kraut, Swiss cheese and horseradish Thousand Island sauce

Centerplate is also featuring 10 new food carts designed by Centerplate General Manager Drew Revella. New cart additions include:

  • Taters & Tops—Classic Tater tots with toppings include The Classic, featuring sour cream, chorizo and scallions; the Ball Park Tater, with hot dog, cheddar, taters and scallions; and the Sweet & Salty, with sweet taters, honey cream, cinnamon sugar and sea salt.
  • The Cheesy Grill—Gourmet Grilled Cheese featuring: the Double Cheesy, Jack and Cheddar on flatbread; Cheesy Steak, shaved steak and provolone on flatbread; Cheesy Caprese, mozzarella, peppers, Provolone, sun dried tomato dressing on Flatbread; and Cheesy Cristo, ham and Swiss on a croissant.
  • Oktoberfest—Premium sausages including: the Spa Sausageand Peppers, peppers and onions, sweet sausage on a hoagie roll, the Oktober Brat, bratwurst, hoagie roll and Caraway Kraut; the Super Sausage, rope sausage, sauteed broccoli rabe with garlic on a Kaiser roll; and the Oktober Special, kielbasa topped with Caraway Kraut on a hoagie roll.
  • Hot to Trot Sammy's—Premium Hot Sandwiches such as: the French Dip, shaved prime rib, Au jus on Hoagies; the Pulled Short Rib Sammy, beef short rib, honey slaw on hoagie roll; the Big City Pastrami, pastrami, grained Mustard on rye; and the Saint Patty's Jr. Club, corned beef, mustard, Caraway Kraut on rye bread.

This year, Centerplate will also be honoring the 150th anniversary by offering $1.50 beer and hotdogs in the backyard on Sundays.
