Freescale To Buy CPE Communication Processors Of Mindspeed

(RTTNews) - Freescale Semiconductor (FSL) said it would buy CPE communications processor business of Mindspeed Technologies, Inc., a unit of M/A-COM Technology Solutions Holdings, Inc. (MTSI). The business includes the Comcerto 100, 1000 and 2000 product families of multicore embedded processors.

The terms of the transaction, which is expected to close in the second calendar quarter of 2014, has not been disclosed.

Freesscale said the transaction will enhance it's leadership position in multicore processors, and extend its's product portfolio.

Under the agreement, important members of the CPE business will join Free scale.

MACOM plans to retain the related Comcerto VoIP processor business as a long-term holding.
