Fort Lauderdale Public Adjuster Will Host Live Online Hurricane Damage Q&A

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., March 09, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- South Florida public adjuster Robert Cote will host an online, live Facebook video Q&A session with the public on Sunday March 10, 2019 at 2 pm Easter Time. Mr. Cote, owner of Fort Lauderdale-based Property Loss Consultants says he gets questions every day from people confused by the process of filing claims with insurance companies for property damages. "You wouldn't believe the stories I hear from victims," Cote said. "People buy insurance and think they'll be compensated expeditiously and fairly by their insurance companies, but that's simply not the case."

Mr. Cote recognized the need for a better way to disseminate information about filing claims and appeals and believes the public needs a way to get accurate answers. "People should not have to wait weeks, months, or years to get what is owed to them," he said.

Property loss victims should understand there is a way to navigate "the system" and that includes a set of rules and regulations they must follow, including time limits on when to file a claim. "There were over 150,000 claims filed by the victims of Hurricane Michael," Cote explained. "Many of those claims are languishing in the system and have not yet been resolved. Florida Statute 627.70132 is called the Notice of Windstorm or Hurricane Claim statute and deals with claims, supplemental claims, or re-opened claims submitted by storm victims. "This statute is vague with regard to timing and other specifics, and people often need guidance getting the compensation their policy guarantees.

Mr. Cote feels there is a need for an open source dialogue about working within the insurance claim system, and decided on a live, online question and answer event. "There are 190 million people using YouTube in the United States and I feel it's important to meet people with questions in a familiar place," explained Cote. People will be able to tune in on their computer, tablet, or phone and live-chat their questions. "I can't get to everyone, but it will be a start and my hope is to continue the dialogue on a monthly or weekly basis depending on the response."

Victims of property loss events can ask questions about claims involving fire, vandalism, boat damage, mold, as well as storm damage.
