Everest Re Group Q2 Profit Rises

(RTTNews) - Everest Re Group Ltd. (RE) Tuesday reported second-quarter net income of $275.6 million or $5.56 per share, compared to net income of $214.6 million or $4.08 per share a year ago.

After-tax operating income, excluding realized capital gains and losses, was $253.2 million or $5.10 per share for the second quarter, compared to after-tax operating income of $223.0 million or $4.25 per share last year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $4.25 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimate usually exclude one-time items.

Total revenues for the quarter was $1.35 billion compared to $1.18 billion last year. Premiums earned for the quarter rose to $1.15 billion from $1.04 billion a year ago. Analysts estimated revenues of $1.08 billion for the quarter.
