Eurotunnel Shuttle Service Runs 24/7 Throughout Christmas Period
Regulatory News:
With high levels of traffic forecast over the Christmas holiday period already under threat between Belgium and the UK, due to strike action in Belgium on Thursday 22 December, Eurotunnel (Paris:GET) (LSE:GETS) confirms that it will be running a full Le Shuttle service between the United Kingdom and France throughout the period. This will ensure that any passengers who could be stuck or delayed by Belgian strikes will be able cross between Calais and Folkestone on the way to their holiday destination.
During this holiday period, and given the recent announcement of strike action, many passengers are looking for alternative travel options. Eurotunnel has recently seen a 30% increase in calls to its contact centre.
In order to help customers whose holiday plans may be at risk, Eurotunnel is increasing its capacity in response to this additional demand and will have a departure every 15 minutes at peak times with a crossing time of just 35 minutes.
Advance bookings for the coming days show that, when concerns about weather and industrial action increase, many more customers choose Le Shuttle as their preferred route. Le Shuttle which carries cars, motorcycles and coaches offers an easy, reliable, economical means of transport and one which is also environmentally friendly. Booking is on-line via www.eurotunnel.com and services will be running 24 hours a day, every day including Christmas and New Year.
