Esmertec Strengthens Focus on Product Development and Marketing with Reorganization of R&D and Product Departments

Esmertec(TM) (SWX: ESMN), a leading provider ofworld-class software solutions and services for the telecommunication,interactive multimedia, and consumer electronics markets, announcestoday that it is placing a stronger emphasis and focus on thedevelopment and marketing of its embedded software products, and hasreorganized the product and R&D departments accordingly. Esmertec'srecently established mobile operator division is not affected by thereorganization and continues to operate independently.

The new product department will be structured along the fourproduct lines of Embedded Mobile, Interactive Multimedia Solutions,End-to-End Mobile Solutions, and Mobile Advertising. Each product linehas full responsibility for the product lifecycle management fromproduct innovation, research and development, product strategy androadmap definition to product delivery to customers.

Georges Boulloy, Chief Marketing Officer, will head and drive thestrategy and the operations of the new product organization, and says,"In a short time, Esmertec has become a leading provider of JavaVirtual Machine software for mobile phones with best-in-classtechnology. The reorganization is to enable us to deploy solutionsthat cater to the future demands of the market. Having successfully achieved her primary goals for Esmertec asChief Technology Officer (CTO), Anne-Marie Larkin has decided to seeknew career challenges. Ms. Larkin has served as Esmertec's CTO sincethe beginning of 2004 and has been key in driving Esmertec to atechnological leadership position in the embedded Java space. Inaddition, she significantly contributed to Esmertec's successfulpublic listing. Ms. Larkin's departure is effective at the end of June2006.

Esmertec's co-founders, Dr. Beat Heeb and Dr. Daniel Diez, havealso decided to pursue other opportunities and areas in their careerdevelopment. Both of them will leave at the end of June 2006, but willremain technology consultants and advisors to Esmertec.
