Administrator McCarthy will highlight the Administration's commitment to carrying out President Obama's Climate Action Plan to reduce carbon pollution and address the impacts of a changing climate. She will also discuss her vision for the EPA and challenges the Agency will face going forward. McCarthy has been a leading advocate for common-sense strategies to protect public health and the environment.
McCarthy was confirmed as President Barack Obama's second EPA chief in July. The environmental health expert had served as assistant administrator since the beginning of Obama's presidency. She recently argued that climate change is not just an environmental problem but also a threat to U.S. economic prosperity.
Breakfast will be served at 8:30 a.m., with remarks beginning at 9 a.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 10 a.m. Tickets cost $21 for Press Club members (NPC Members may purchase 2 tickets at this rate) and $35 for all other non-member tickets.
