Business Editors/High-Tech Writers
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 9, 2005--Embarcadero(R) Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:EMBT), a provider of data lifecycle management solutions, today announced the promotion of Cameron Skinner, its chief architect of application development tools, to the position of chief technology officer. Reporting directly to chief executive officer Stephen Wong, Skinner will oversee the strategic evolution and advancement of Embarcadero's data lifecycle management solutions and services, and the delivery of the company's product technologies. Wayne Williams will remain deeply involved with the company, driving the architecture of key initiatives that he helped to launch.
"Cameron is a strategic thinker who brings a unique blend of deep technical expertise, hands-on understanding of our customers' needs, and strong architectural skills," said Wong. "Running our Colorado development lab for the past several years, he's consistently shown the technology vision to deliver award winning products that help businesses solve serious enterprise problems. His leadership abilities and technical foresight make him the perfect candidate for mapping the direction of Embarcadero's product technology, which has been a great strength of the company over the years."
"Understanding the problems customers have in creating and maintaining their enterprise applications, and offering them real solutions, is what keeps our products best-of-class," said Skinner. "By implementing a technology vision that focuses on the real-world problems of our customers, and then clearly articulating that to our development organization, I believe we can continue to provide world-class solutions that increase ROI and maximize productivity and success."
Skinner joined Embarcadero Technologies in 2000, and has been responsible for the management and direction of the Colorado development lab, as well as the design, development, and QA of Embarcadero Describe(R). Under his direction, Describe has won the prestigious Software Development Jolt Award and most recently was selected to be embedded in Sun's Java Studio Enterprise, winner of the 2005 eWEEK Excellence Award, Application Development Product. Prior to Embarcadero, he was chief technology officer of Advanced Software Technologies, Inc. (acquired by Embarcadero Technologies). While there, he was responsible for product direction and development of GDPro, a UML modeling tool.
