Eclipsys to Debut Sunrise Enterprise at HIMSS08
Eclipsys Corporation®
(NASDAQ:ECLP), The Outcomes Company®,
will be joined by clients and partners at the Healthcare Information
Management and Systems Society Annual Conference & Exposition, HIMSS08
(booth #2063) in debuting Sunrise Enterprise™,
a suite of solutions that help healthcare organizations improve
clinical, financial and operational outcomes. Eclipsys will also be
demonstrating its support for and integration with Microsoft®
HealthVault™, a free Web-based platform that
enables patients to collect, store and share health information with
hospitals and physicians to help increase efficiency, reduce errors, and
improve care.
Sunrise Enterprise includes release 5.0 of Sunrise Clinical Manager™
and Sunrise Access Manager™, which is now
available on the Eclipsys XA™ extended
architecture. With Sunrise Enterprise, healthcare organizations have
more flexibility than ever before to drive outcome improvements the
moment a patient enters the enterprise, before the care encounter
begins. Healthcare organizations can also use Sunrise Enterprise to
better manage the business of healthcare and help improve financial
performance by delivering cleaner claims, reducing days in accounts
receivable, increasing cash flow and enhancing patient services.
"Two key success factors in improving
clinical and financial outcomes are the ability to integrate operations
across the entire healthcare enterprise and the ability to drive high
levels of physician adoption,” said R. Andrew
Eckert, Eclipsys president and chief executive officer. "This
year again, our HIMSS08 presence will focus heavily on our clients and
the exceptional outcomes they have achieved using our Sunrise Enterprise
solutions.” Integrating Clinical and Financial Operations
Eclipsys will also demonstrate how Sunrise Access Manager helps
healthcare organizations to integrate clinical and financial operations.
The enhanced registration and scheduling capabilities of Sunrise
Enterprise provide specific insurance functionality to generate and
receive scheduling transactions for easier integration with other
systems, new booking sequences, advanced conflict checking and improved
workflow with registration. The solution also includes eligibility
checking to verify coverage and benefits before care is delivered, along
with smoother navigation, integration with third-party master patient
indexes and generation of billing codes from registration data.
Enterprise Order Reconciliation Helps Make Medication Process Safer
With the Joint Commission focus on medication reconciliation as a
National Patient Safety Goal to reduce preventable medication errors,
Sunrise Enterprise enables healthcare providers to go beyond medication
reconciliation to improve patient safety throughout the care process.
The new orders reconciliation capability allows caregivers to reconcile all
orders related to the patient’s care at all
handoffs between caregivers and units, as well as at admission and
discharge.
New Capabilities to Help Provide Exceptional Physician Experience
Sunrise Enterprise includes many advanced functions that improve
communication between members of the interdisciplinary care team,
enhance usability and facilitate more rapid physician adoption and
superior outcomes. For example, the solution includes a portal framework
for improved communications with clinicians and patients at home and
other locations outside of the organization. Sunrise Clinician Portal™,
an integrated module of Sunrise Acute Care, allows anytime, anywhere web
access to the patient record in an easy-to-use user interface. A
physician can review the patient chart and write orders using the same
personal preferences available in the hospital view. Sunrise Enterprise
also includes clinical documentation that is personalized to the
caregiver's role, and designed to reflect how clinicians think and
process information, creating greater efficiency and increased clinician
satisfaction.
"Eclipsys takes pride in our position as the
industry leader in physician adoption of clinical information solutions,”
said Jay Deady, Eclipsys executive vice president, Client Solutions. "Sunrise
Enterprise includes new capabilities that enable organizations to more
easily achieve physician engagement, quality and adoption. The best way
to move our industry forward is to demonstrate the value of health
information technology in driving superior outcomes and physician
adoption is essential to accomplishing this goal.” Microsoft HealthVault Integration
Sunrise Patient Portal™ enables patients to
access their personal health information stored within Eclipsys clinical
information solutions and share that information using Microsoft
HealthVault. Clinicians and staff can securely pull patient-supplied
information shared by the patient from HealthVault into their
organization’s electronic medical record and
use HealthVault to communicate suggested clinical pathways and other
important information back to the patient. Patients with chronic
conditions that require long-term monitoring can also use Sunrise
Patient Portal to record ongoing health indicators, such as
blood-glucose levels, pain management or blood pressure data, and make
that data available to providers via HealthVault.
