Earth AI announces high-grade indium find at Kooranjie project in Australia

Clean energy metals explorer Earth AI announced Tuesday it has made a rare, high-grade indium mineralization find at its wholly-owned Kooranjie project.  The company said targets generated from its proprietary AI software led to the discovery of high-grade indium samples at Kooranjie, located 500 km northwest of Sydney in New South Wales, Australia.  Indium is an emerging strategic technology metal, essential in the manufacture of indium tin oxide (ITO) used in LCD touchscreens, solar panels, and semiconductors. Indium remains globally undersupplied, which has driven prices up over the last few years. Rock chip sampling across a newly identified gossanous outcrop hosted in granite returned consistently high indium contents, the company said, with assays of up to 117 ppm In and multiple samples exceeding 20 ppm In. The mineralized zone is exposed at the surface for 250 meters and due to its high-magnetite content can be traced for up to 3km.  Ore grades for Indium typically begin at 1 ppm In, underscoring the high-grade nature of this outcrop, Earth AI said.  Previous assays at Kooranjie revealed concentrations up to 0.26% tungsten, 23.6 ppm silver, 0.6% lead, and 1% tin. The mineralized system also shows anomalous zinc (to 0.3% ppm), molybdenum (to 520 ppm), topaz, fluorite, and elevated lithium. Earth AI said it is the first mineral explorer to identify indium at ore-grade concentrations within the region and is currently developing a drill program to test the extent of the mineralization at depth. The hydrothermal system can be traced for over 5km with multiple prospects of tin, silver, zinc and indium found within is already being drilled. Drilling commenced last week initially targeting the tin prospect with silver and indium to be drilled in the following weeks. “It’s incredibly exciting to find something as rare as Indium. Armed with the new additions to our drill fleet and field team, we are poised to move extremely quickly,” Earth AI CEO Roman Teslyuk said in a news release. “The timing couldn’t be better, as the world has increasingly taken notice of the importance of critical minerals in global geopolitics.” In March, the company discovered six new mineral prospects containing tungsten, cobalt and gold across its 100% owned tenements in Australia. Last year, with its joint venture partner Legacy Minerals (ASX: LGM) Earth AI announced the discovery of one of the largest palladium mineral systems in Australia. Weiter zum vollständigen Artikel bei Mining.com
