Earnings Watch For October 14(C, JNJ, INTC, CSX)
(RTTNews) - With Alcoa (AA) having set the ball rolling with forecast-beating results, the third quarter reporting have started in earnest with optimistic expectations concerning profit growth. Nevertheless, some of the pre-announcements do not bode well for a healthy reporting season. The bank earnings scheduled for the day will give further cues on how the reporting season with pan out.
Financial services giant Citigroup, Inc. (C) is scheduled to report third quarter results before the markets open. The earnings of the company are expected to rise to $1.12 per share from $1.00 per share reported a year earlier and revenues are anticipated to grow to $19.05 billion from $18.22 billion in the prior-year quarter. The shares closed Monday at $50.11. (52-wk H/L $55.28/$45.18)
Drug and healthcare giant Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) will report its third quarter results. The New Brunswick, New Jersey-based company's earnings are expected to increase to $1.44 per share from $1.36 per share reported a year earlier, while quarterly revenues are projected at $18.38 billion, up from last year's $17.58 billion. The shares of JNJ closed Monday's trade at $99.12. (52-wk H/L $108.77/$86.09)
Intel Corp. (INTC) is slated to report third quarter results after the close of trading. The chipmaker's earnings are expected to climb to $0.65 per share from last year's $0.58 per share. The Santa Clara, California-based company is anticipated to generate revenues of $14.45 billion, an increase from $13.48 billion in the prior-year quarter. The stock closed Monday at $31.47. (52-wk H/L $5.56/$23.03)
Railroad operator CSX Corp. (CSX) is expected to report third quarter results after the market closes. The earnings of the Jacksonville, Florida-based company are anticipated to grow to $0.48 per share from $0.46 per share last year, while revenues are projected to rise to $3.15 billion from $3.00 billion in the prior-year quarter. The company's shares closed Monday's session at $31.70. (52-wk H/L $34.09/$25.28)
Domino's Pizza, Inc. (DPZ), JB Hunt Transport Services Inc. (JBHT), Wells Fargo & Co.(WFC), ADTRAN Inc. (ADTN) and Linear Technology Corp.(LLTC) are also scheduled to report their results.
