Duke Energy Corp Q2 Earnings Climb 12%

(RTTNews) - Duke Energy Corp (DUK) released a profit for its second quarter that advanced compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line advanced to $739 million, or $1.07 per share. This was up from $658 million, or $0.95 per share, in last year's second quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.01 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter fell 2.0% to $5.48 billion. This was down from $5.59 billion last year.
