Duke Energy Corp Earnings Climb 15% In Q3

(RTTNews) - Duke Energy Corp (DUK) announced a profit for its third quarter that advanced compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line came in at $1.16 billion, or $1.68 per share. This was higher than $1.01 billion, or $1.47 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.58 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 5.2% to $6.82 billion. This was up from $6.48 billion last year.
