Dry Creek Band of Pomo Indians Steps in to Help in Time of Need

GEYSERVILLE, Calif., Sept. 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- It has been over a week since the destructive winds and rains of Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas. The gale force winds and rain uprooted trees, brought down power lines, caused historic flooding and devastated entire communities.  While some members of the community were fortunate to have their homes and personal property spared, many suffered crippling losses.

The Tribal Council from Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas have worked hard spearheading and rallying relief efforts across Indian Country to find those willing to pledge their support to the struggling communities affected by Hurricane Harvey.  The Board of Directors of the Dry Creek Band of Pomo Indians appreciate the efforts of the Tribal Council from Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas, and are proud to join forces with them in this time of need.

Chris Wright, Tribal Chairman of the Dry Creek Band of Pomo Indians, commented, "We are honored to support the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas in their efforts, by donating to the hurricane relief fund in the amount of $25,000. Together we want to extend a helping hand to those who have lost everything in the storm; give them food, a safe place to stay and help them to rebuild.  Unlike national organizations that can take months to distribute funds, this aid will have an immediate and substantial impact on the affected communities."

"We unite with tribal and non-tribal people who were victims of this natural disaster.  We join with all from Indian Country and other citizens who generously support the rebuilding efforts."
