Samlaska, M.D., F.A.A.D., F.A.C.P. is recognized by Continental Who's Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Medicine as a result of his role as a Dermatologist with Academic Dermatology of Nevada, a full-service Las Vegas dermatology practice.
Dr. Samlaska has over twenty-five years of experience in Medicine and specializes in Dermatology. He is extremely skilled at performing Mohs Surgery, a common dermatological and skin cancer treatment, and is very knowledgeable in the subset of exotic and genetic diseases as they pertain to the skin. He has extensive training in exotic disorders such as leishmaniasis, Loa Loa, myiasis, HIV disease, among many others. His expertise has lead to his work on genetic disorders to be widely published.
Prior to opening Academic Dermatology of Nevada, Dr. Samlaska worked at the Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii. In this capacity, he was instrumental in developing the telemedicine concept for the United States Department of Defense staff to remote islands in the Pacific. Telemedicine is the innovative practice of relaying technical information through interactive audiovisual media which is crucial in the Army, where troops may be stationed in remote areas without access to common procedures. As a result of his vast knowledge in the field of telemedicine, Dr. Samlaska was deployed to Europe in 1996 to establish telemedicine in support of troops in Bosnia during Operation Joint Endeavor.
Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Samlaska has been widely recognized for his accomplishments. He is named in the Leading Physicians of the World Publication and earned many military commendations. He received the Army Achievement Medal in 1986; Overseas Ribbon in 1987; Army Commendation Medal in 1995; as well as the Army Meritorious Service Medal in 1995.
Dr. Samlaska earned his Medical Degree at the University of Minnesota and completed internships with the Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the Tripler Army Medical Center. He is a Fellow of both the American College of Physicians and American Academy of Dermatology, as well as an honored member of the American Medical Association; Hawaii Dermatology Society; and Clark County Medical Society.
