Diodes Profit Tops Estimates; Q1 Revenue Guidance Weak

(RTTNews) - Semiconductor supplier Diodes Inc (DIOD) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $16.7 million or $0.34 per share compared with $6.2 million or $0.13 per share last year.

Excluding items, adjusted earnings for the quarter were $0.38 per share compared with $0.24 per share a year ago.

Revenues for the quarter were $223.7 million, an increase of 6 percent from the $211 million in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.34 per share on revenues of $224.5 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Results were also helped by gross margin that improved to 31.6 percent from 28.8 percent last year.

For the first quarter, the company expects earnings revenues of $206 million and $220 million, while analysts expect $219.4 million.

Diodes said the guidance reflects normal seasonality and the currency impact from a stronger U.S. dollar.

For the year, the company said it remains focused on generating profitable growth by refining product mix to maximize margins and deliver increased earnings and cash flow.
