SPORTTOTAL wins new title sponsor for ADAC 24-Hour Race at the Nürburgring

- Mineral oil group Total is the new partner of the traditional "ADAC Total 24-Hour Race" from 20-23 June 2019

Cologne, 28 November 2018. SPORTTOTAL LIVE GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SPORTTOTAL AG, has won mineral oil group Total as its new title sponsor for the ADAC 24-Hour Race at the Nürburgring. Total is therefore taking the place of Zurich Versicherungsgruppe as title sponsor. Already in 2019 the race will mark the start of the 47th racing season under the new name of "ADAC Total 24-Hour Race" from 20-23 June 2019. SPORTTOTAL has broadcast the race live for 20 years from the Nürburgring and, as the rights holder and promotor, ensures global marketing. Along with the 24-hour race in Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) and the 24-hour race in Le Mans (France), Total is now sponsoring the third major 24-hour racing event in Europe. Together with the ADAC and the new title sponsor, SPORTTOTAL intends to forge ahead with international media marketing as well.

Multi-year contract with the new title sponsor
In Total, SPORTTOTAL LIVE GmbH has won a new heavyweight from the mobility sector as the title sponsor for Germany's largest circuit race. Total will replace Zurich Versicherungsgruppe, the long-standing title sponsor since 1998.

SPORTTOTAL, that has marketed the race for 20 years on behalf of ADAC Nordrhein, ensures the clean live broadcasting and global content marketing of the event. At the last count, the 24-hour race drew around 210,000 spectators at the Nürburgring and achieved record ratings during the TV broadcasting, as well as new record figures for streaming, which impressively underscores its significance in Europe's racing scene. The race was covered by 38 broadcasters in 152 countries in 2018. "Together with the ADAC and Total, we want to expand the international presence of the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring as well as media exposure," explains Matthias Wurm, general manager of SPORTTOTAL Live GmbH.

Wide coverage boosts revenues
In recent years, SPORTTOTAL LIVE GmbH has succeeded in steadily increasing the coverage of the internationally renowned racing event at the Nürburgring. "As a result, the contribution of the 24-hour race to revenues has also risen slowly, but steadily, in recent years," reports Peter Lauterbach, CEO of SPORTTOTAL AG. "Stronger international marketing of the 24-hour race is therefore a very successful component of our internationalization strategy for the whole SPORTTOTAL Group," concludes Lauterbach.
