sporttotal.tv opens Development Lab in Berlin

- Former Viacom manager to lead development team

- New analytical features and community tools in 2018

- More than 120 cameras installed and 600 games streamed

Berlin/Cologne, 29 November 2017 sporttotal.tv gmbh, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SPORTTOTAL AG, will open its new Development Lab in Berlin in January 2018. Kasar Masood, 45, as Vice President Digital Technology will lead the team which will refine the technology and programming relating to the amateur sport video platform sporttotal.tv and associated products. Several analytical features and various interactive tools will be gradually incorporated for sporttotal.tv on behalf of the growing amateur sports community. Kasar Masood brings over 20 years of experience in the field of software engineering. Among other posts, he was recently Director of Technology & Operations (Global Mobile Platforms) at Viacom International Media Networks.

About sporttotal.tv:
sporttotal.tv gmbh, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SPORTTOTAL AG (formerly _wige MEDIA AG), signed a ten-year contract with the German Football Association (DFB) in July to raise the profile of amateur football. As part of the collaboration, amateur clubs in Germany from the fourth highest division downwards are equipped with special technology that allows football matches to be broadcast live on sporttotal.tv in high quality and fully automatically. For example, using the app (free of charge in the store), viewers can be their own directors, determine the angles and share scenes in social media. In addition, sporttotal.tv collaborates with the amateur football portal with the largest reach, FUSSBALL.DE which is run by the DFB and its state associations.

The service can be used free of charge, and the portal is funded by advertising revenue. Over 120 camera systems have now been installed throughout Germany at clubs from 20 different leagues. Over 600 games have already been streamed. The project started in the second half of last season with a pilot phase in Bavaria and Lower Saxony.

The centrepiece of sporttotal.tv is a unique 180-degree camera technology which is set up by the pitch as a fixed installation. The special innovation of the system is its software which is capable of following events on the pitch fully automatically - with no chip in the ball or a player's shirt.

Allianz Deutschland AG, Deutsche Post AG and Telekom Deutschland all support sporttotal.tv gmbh as founding partners. BILD is a media partner and has already launched a weekly highlights show from the games presented by sporttotal.tv in time for the second half of the 2016/2017 season.
