SMT Scharf and Breuer-Motoren forge strategic partnership

Hamm, November 16, 2017 - SMT Scharf AG (Securities No. 575198, ISIN DE0005751986) has concluded a collaboration agreement with Breuer-Motoren GmbH & Co. KG. As part of the strategic partnership, SMT Scharf will in future take over the exclusive distribution and after-sales business for Breuer-Motoren in Russia.

Hans Joachim Theiß, CEO of SMT Scharf AG, explains the significance of the contract: "For SMT Scharf, as one of the world's leading suppliers of underground transport solutions and logistics systems, Russia is one of the most important foreign markets. With our many years of experience in sales and after-sales organisation in this core market, we are ideally placed to support Breuer-Motoren. The focus is on drive technology employed by mining companies in longwall mining. Besides organic growth and operational excellence achieved by optimizing the group-wide production system, external growth, e.g. through strategic partnerships or acquisitions, is a mainstay of our corporate strategy. With this alliance, we are systematically pursuing this path."

Dirk Linnepe, Managing Partner of Breuer-Motoren GmbH & Co. KG, adds: "We are delighted to have won SMT Scharf, a proven specialist for the mining market in Russia, as an important collaboration partner. Our drive technology is utilized in an extremely wide diversity of application areas worldwide. The technology has proved its worth as electric drives for mining machines as well as for oil and gas drilling platforms and as drives for special vehicles in underground and above ground operations. As a result of our sales alliance with SMT Scharf, we want to stake out a sustainable share of growth in the Russian market."
