CSC, Thales and Proximetry to Offer Wireless Connectivity Solution for Commercial Aviation Industry
CSC (NYSE: CSC), a global leader in technology enabled solutions, Thales, a leader in aerospace products and services, and Proximetry Inc., an expert in wireless network management software, today announced their partnership in GateSync™, a high-performance wireless ground connectivity solution for airlines, airport authorities and other aviation companies. GateSync is a unique, patented solution that enables airlines to wirelessly load and offload content and data while aircraft are on the ground by dynamically adjusting network parameters and data delivery priorities based on the ever-changing airline operational environment.
GateSync offers airlines fast, secure wireless transmission capability that optimizes airline operations and the personalization of the passengers’ flying experience. Any time, at any airport, GateSync moves time sensitive and mission critical data such as the passenger manifest, in-flight entertainment (IFE) content, store inventories, surveys, crew logs and system performance data, giving airlines new efficiencies and capabilities.
"We are excited to partner with two aviation industry innovators in Thales and Proximetry to offer GateSync,” said Mary Jo Morris, president, CSC Technology and Consumer Group. "The capabilities that each partner brings to this solution complement each other perfectly, and the solution that we have produced can provide airlines with the long-overdue enhancements to their operations and, ultimately, the passenger experience.”
"GateSync is a powerful offering that enables our goal to bring our IFE end-to-end solution to the next level, helping airlines manage information that impacts ground personnel, crew and the passenger experience,” said Alan Pellegrini, vice president and general manager, Thales’ Inflight Entertainment Systems business.
"With this powerful team of expert companies, our AirSync software suite is poised to enable another successful application beyond energy and safety,” said Tracy Trent, CEO of Proximetry, Inc.
The ground-based infrastructure for GateSync relies on CSC’s existing private backbone network and integration services to securely deploy and manage data at airports and airline enterprises around the world. Onboard the aircraft, Thales provides GateSync components and integrates the hardware with board systems like Thales’ TopSeries Inflight Entertainment System. At the core of the solution is Proximetry’s AirSync/GS wireless management software.
GateSync has been field tested at three major airports and verified by a major equipment manufacturer and several airlines.
