CrowdIt Launches Crowdfunding Project To Support Families Of Fallen Soldiers In Afghanistan

SPRINGFIELD, Mo., Oct. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- CrowdIt (www.crowdit.com), the first company to bring business networking and support services into the crowdfunding experience, today announced it has launched a crowdfunding project to help raise funds for funeral expenses in honor and support of the families of the four fallen soldiers who were killed in Afghanistan over this past weekend (https://www.crowdit.com/dreamdetails/Details/96). The shuttered U.S. federal government is withholding the typical death gratuity, a $100,000 payment normally wired to relatives of fallen soldiers. This payment is typically sent to families of the fallen within three days to help them cover funeral costs or travel to meet the flag-draped coffins of their loved ones. CrowdIt hopes to raise the funds necessary to assist those families so that they can grieve without the added weight of financial burdens during this difficult time.

"We cannot begin to imagine the terrible loss that the families and friends of the fallen have suffered and so we are offering our help in a time when these families should be receiving the support they deserve," explained Jason Graf, CEO of CrowdIt. "Money is typically the last thing on the minds of people suffering such a loss, but we (CrowdIt) feel it is our duty to support our soldiers locally and those serving our great country overseas. It also gives people a voice through their contributions -- an important aspect in addition to raising the money for the families."

CrowdIt has set a fundraising goal of $500,000 and is urging people from across the United States and all over the world to lend their support. All of the monies raised, minus the credit card processing fees, are strictly for the families of the fallen heroes and will be divided and disbursed equally once the project closes in less than 45 days.
