Concurrent RedHawk Linux Powers Real-Time Data Acquisition for Japanese Defense

Concurrent (Nasdaq: CCUR), a worldwide leader in real-time Linux®-based computing technologies, and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, LTD (MHI), a global leader in Aviation and Space industries, today announced Concurrent’s RedHawk™ real-time Linux systems contributed to the successful completion of a scale model flight test for a future high-performance compact aircraft. The "Flight Control System for High Maneuver Aircraft Research and Evaluation Test” program is in development with MHI and the Japan Ministry of Defense. RedHawk systems selected by MHI provided seamless monitoring and data recording during the autonomous flight tests. These tests accelerate the development of the future aircraft and will enable faster time to market translating to overall project savings.

Japan Ministry of Defense launched the program with MHI toward realization of a stealth compact aircraft with high-maneuverability. During the research phase, over 40 flight tests were performed on a scale model of the aircraft. Concurrent’s RedHawk Linux systems gathered hard, real-time flight information from the ground through GPS and telemetry providing control command to the scale model during autonomous flight tests.

Concurrent’s partnership with MHI began in 1992 and in 2006 Concurrent’s iHawk™ systems powered by RedHawk Linux were selected to develop training simulators for the SH-60K patrol helicopter.
