Concurrent Introduces MediaHawk IMS for Compelling Market Advantages Concurrent Introduces Its MediaHawk Interactive Media Solution (IMS)(TM), Allowing MSOs to Target On-Demand Customers Like Never Before
-- Enables MSOs to captivate customers with branded on-demand
menu environments
Concurrent Computer Corporation (NASDAQ: CCUR), a worldwide leader of on-demand technology, today announced the introduction of its MediaHawk Interactive Media Solution(TM) (IMS). The MediaHawk IMS represents a significant advancement in on-demand content delivery, enabling multiple system operators (MSOs) to enhance the navigation experience of their customers and drive significant revenue opportunities. Concurrent's MediaHawk IMS allows MSOs to leverage content-specific promotion to dramatically improve the on-demand purchase experience for consumers.
MediaHawk IMS is a practical tool that addresses "real world" challenges and enables MSOs and content providers to design their own on-demand portals with unique branding and promotional content, from movie barkers to commercials targeted to the portal visitor. With the MediaHawk IMS, MSOs will be able to captivate customers who enter the on-demand environment and, in so doing, expand the revenue potential from those customers. A key enabler of the MediaHawk IMS is Concurrent's patent-pending in-band streaming, which allows the operator to entice the consumer with riveting, consumer-specific content as soon as they enter the on-demand domain.
As the consumer navigates through the menu options, promotional content in the barker window automatically changes to align with that individual consumer's specific interests, based on their menu choices. The promotional videos can be "mixed and matched" with multiple branded backgrounds for unlimited branding combinations and multi-tiered branding opportunities. Branded backgrounds, graphics and targeted video are streamed from the server to create a richer VOD experience that runs on any set-top box or OCAP- (Open Cable Applications Platform) enabled consumer device.
With the unique capabilities of Concurrent's MediaHawk IMS, operators can deliver a tailored, customized experience based on the consumer choices at individual set-top boxes. This engages and guides consumers to the content that interests them most. The final purchase decision is still in the customer's hands, but MediaHawk IMS reinforces the decision based on specific selections along the navigational path. This greatly increases the probability of a successful consumer interaction and on-demand purchase.
The MSO can utilize the MediaHawk IMS technology for content specific promotion, as well as advanced product advertising, premium content upselling, and consumer education strategies. MediaHawk IMS applications and revenue generating opportunities are only limited by the MSO's imagination. The MediaHawk IMS gives MSOs the freedom and power to end generic, passive interfaces and replace them with exciting, interesting, and focused environments for selling on-demand and other products and services.
"Concurrent's MediaHawk IMS will be the catalyst for fundamental changes in the on-demand purchase model, and offers a powerful set of marketing and branding tools that no other VOD vendor can match," said Gary Trimm, Concurrent President and CEO. "We're committed to the success of our customers, and this progressive new product offering was developed to run on any set-top box. It will help drive take rates and purchases, enhance the subscriber experience and maximize their on-demand investment by using streaming technology to educate, brand and promote programming."
